What documentation is required to open a business account?
In addition to the documents below, we will need 2 pieces of ID from each authorized signer.
All Signers:
- ID
- If address is not current, proof of Address
Sole Prop:
- Active Business Registry if full name with no extra words is included in the business name
- EIN Letter or filed taxes showing EIN and business name, if not using their own Social Security Number
Partnership:
- Active Business Registry
- EIN Letter or filed taxes showing EIN and business name
- Partnership Agreement
LLC:
- Active Business Registry
- EIN Letter or filed taxes showing EIN and business name, unless the Limited Liability Company is a single member LLC where they have 100% ownership and they choose to use their Social Security Number
- Articles of Organization
- Operating Agreement, if they have one
Corporation:
- Active Business Registry
- EIN Letter or filed taxes showing EIN and business name
- Articles or Certificate of Incorporation
- Corporate Resolution
- Bylaws, if they have them or the Corporate Resolution references one
- Meeting Minutes stating desire to open account and who the signers will be
Non-Profit:
- Active Business Registry
- EIN Letter or filed taxes showing EIN and business name
- Articles or Certificate of Incorporation
- Corporate Resolution
- Bylaws, if they have them or the Corporate Resolution references one
- Meeting Minutes stating desire to open account and who the signers will be
- 501c Ruling letter, if they have it
Unincorporated Association:
- Active Business Registry
- EIN Letter or filed taxes showing EIN and business name, or Social Security Number (SSN) if using an individual signers SSN (the SSN must be associated with someone on the account)
- Articles of Association
- Bylaws, if they have them or the Articles of Association references one
- Meeting Minutes stating desire to open account and who the signers will be
Any business with a DBA:
